A favicon (short for favorite icon) is a graphic image associated with a particular webpage and/or website. Browsers that provide favicon support typically display a page's favicon in the browser's address bar and next to the page's name in a list of bookmarks.

The very first step in adding a favicon to your website/webpage is preparation of icon named 'favicon.ico'. It should be 16×16 in size. You can resize chosen image in any image editor, do the renaming and save it in the right extension. Next step would be upload of prepared favicon to your ISPs server root folder.
